Job Summary The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing courteous customer service and supporting the daily operation of the deli department. Duties include preparing, slicing, weighing, packaging, and displaying deli meats, cheeses, and other prepared products while following food safety and handling procedures. Deli Clerks assist customers with product selections, maintain clean and organized work areas, replenish displays, and ensure products are properly labelled and presented.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food quality, and customer service.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their deli selections, providing product information and recommendations.
- Prepare, slice, and package deli meats, cheeses, and other specialty items following safety and quality standards.
- Maintain attractive product displays through effective merchandising and stock replenishment.
- Replenish item on the olive wall, and prepare sandwiches as instructed.
- Operate Scale systems accurately.




- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the deli area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Upsell products by suggesting complementary items to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
- Manage time efficiently to serve multiple customers promptly during busy periods.

Qualifications

- Previous retail or food service experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening abilities.
- Organizational skills to manage stock levels, product displays, and cleanliness standards effectively.
