Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including cleanings, fillings, crowns, orthodontics, and other dental treatments
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) technology when needed
- Manage patient flow by welcoming patients, updating medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding
- Maintain accurate patient records using dental software such as Dentrix or Epic,
including treatment notes and billing information
- Provide post-treatment instructions and answer patient questions with professionalism and empathy
- Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, confirming patient visits, and handling administrative tasks
Skills
- Proven experience in dental assisting with knowledge of dental procedures and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with dental management software such as Dentrix or Epic for record keeping and appointment scheduling
- Knowledge of orthodontics procedures and materials is highly desirable
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, ensuring they feel secure and informed
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry for accurate documentation
- Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry or orthodontic cases is a plus
