Breakthrough T1D is searching for an experienced professional for the role of Development Manager. If you’re an inspiring, collaborative and goal-focused fundraising professional who would like to lead a dynamic team, strengthen donor relationships across Ontario and drive impactful fundraising initiatives that advance our mission, please read on to see if this is the right fit for you.

Here’s what your primary responsibilities would be:

- Execute national fundraising strategies for assigned Breakthrough T1D Walk, Breakthrough T1D Ride, and other fundraising programs within Ontario, ensuring revenue goals, key performance indicators, timelines, and budgets are achieved.
- Develop and implement regional business plans and market-level tactics that align with national fundraising objectives and support participant, donor, sponsor, and volunteer growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with local event sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and supporters to strengthen fundraising outcomes.
- Build meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and community supporters to strengthen engagement and increase retention and revenue.
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate prospective mid-level, leadership giving, planned giving, corporate partnership, and foundation donors, ensuring opportunities are advanced through the organizational fundraising pipeline.
- Develop and implement annual giving and donor stewardship strategies that deepen donor engagement and encourage ongoing support.
- Provides support and strategic direction to a fundraising team, across multiple markets to deliver fundraising results. This includes creating and implementing fundraising strategies, providing training, and inspiring, motivating and monitoring the staff team to achieve key performance indicators for each role.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

- 5-6 years of progressive fundraising experience, including experience in managing a team and university or College degree in Business Management,



Fundraising or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working on peer-to-peer fundraising events
- Excellent people management and leadership skills; ability to coach, develop and mentor staff
- Strong written and oral communication skills in order to successfully interact with external constituents and staff within the organization
- Experience working with peer-to-peer fundraising software an asset (e.g.: AKA Raisin)

Working Style

- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, personable and service-oriented
- Ability to work within a tight timeline and prioritize in a fast-paced agile environment
- Ability to collaborate internally as a team member, as well as externally with donors and leadership volunteers

Other position requirements to note:

- Ability to travel throughout Ontario (approximately 15%) to support fundraising activities, donor engagement and regional events.
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings, fundraising events, and volunteer activities.
- Valid driver’s license is required; access to a vehicle is considered an asset.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment and leveraging technology to effectively manage relationships and fundraising initiatives.
- Commitment to advancing Breakthrough T1D’s mission and representing the organization with professionalism and enthusiasm.

The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $79K to 84K, commensurate with skills and experience level of the selected candidate.

Location Preference: Preferred in Ontario or the GTA area to enable travel across the region and foster strong connections with donors, volunteers and community partners.
