About the Position:
This Dining Room Server/Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and providing catering services, ensures work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. The Server/Cook will also assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and other staff members. As this is a retirement residence, all servers are deemed Essential Workers and so are guaranteed their jobs regardless of current restrictions.
Full time and part time hours available.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Prepares food for serving to residents and guests;
. Participates in menu planning with Food Services Manager;
. Confers with Food Services Manager about production of daily menus and catering;
. Controls storage, inventory and minimizes waste;
· Ensures resident and guest satisfaction with meal service;
· Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef;
· Performs the set-up, serving and tear down services at meal times and booked catering events;
· Effectively communicates and interacts with residents,
family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner. Projects an appropriate image and focuses on customer service excellence;
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care
· Previous experience in a volume food preparation environment in the Health Care or Hospitality industries;
· Residence or other hospitality environment;
· Completion of secondary school education or equivalent;
· Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is preferred;
· Smart Serve Certificate is preferred;
· Ability to clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required;
· Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors.
