Director of Investments

Location: Dufferin and Lawrence, on-site

Employment Type: Full-time, option of 4-day work week

Reports to: Partners of the Firm

Al G. Brown & Associates is an independent estate, financial planning and insurance brokerage firm. We are seeking a Director of Investments to lead investment strategy and oversee our clients’ portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment Strategy

- Develop and execute the firm's overall strategy for investment clients
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive positioning to inform strategic direction

Client Advisory & Portfolio Management

- Serve as lead advisor for the firm's mutual fund and segregated fund business, directly managing client relationships and investment recommendations
- Assess clients' financial goals, investment objectives, time horizon, and risk tolerance
- Recommend suitable mutual funds and segregated funds based on client needs
- Construct diversified investment portfolios to achieve clients' objectives
- Conduct regular client reviews to ensure investments remain appropriate as markets and client circumstances evolve
- Explain investment risks and expected returns clearly and transparently
- Coordinate investment strategies with other aspects of a client's financial plan




- Nurture existing client relationships and identify opportunities to expand on them

Team Leadership

- Direct the Product Analyst, assigning priorities and reviewing product analysis and recommendations
- Direct the work of an administrative staff member, ensuring client servicing, documentation, and account processing run smoothly
- Set priorities and workflows for the team to ensure responsive, high-quality service

Portfolio Oversight

- Oversee performance of investments across the portfolio
- Manage portfolio risk, diversification, and liquidity across all lines

Reporting & Governance
- Prepare regular investment performance reports for the partners of the firm
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Maintain investment policies, procedures, and documentation

Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience in investment management, asset management, or a related field

· Strong knowledge of segregated funds and mutual fund structures

· Relevant licensing- LLQP, mutual fund registration

· Solid analytical, financial modeling, and risk management skills

· Excellent communication skills
