DirectorStoragePlatform Engineering,Global Technology Enterprise Platforms–-ScotiaTECH
Lead the end-to-end Engineering function forEnterprise Storage across Data Centers and Cloudenvironments. This role is accountable for the planning, build, deployment, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of platform capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security requirements, and operational resilience objectives.
The Director will lead a team of domain engineering experts and act as the critical bridge between Architecture, Engineering, Operations,Business and Vendors, ensuring scalable, secure, and supportable platform delivery across the enterprise.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Build and lead a high-performing storageteam of TechnologySubject Matter Experts (SMEs) of Engineersresponsible forStorage Platforms to provide direction and input on:
- Prioritized initiatives.
- Infrastructureengineeringpatterns, principals, frameworks, and standards to align globally approved offerings.
- Including when standard does not exist today (leads to interaction with business andScotiaTECHArchitecture teams).
- Participate in specialized Design Councils and the GTEPArchitectural Review Board.
- Acts in a consulting role from ideation through design.
- Drivetalent development, succession planning, and domain depth maturityand fostera culture of:
- Ownership
- Planning, build, and deployment of new platform capabilities based on approved enterprise designs, standards, and security requirements.Ensure infrastructure architecture decisions are consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory obligations (including OSFI expectations), and enterprise resilience standards.
- Ensures solutions are production-ready, scalable, and operationally supportable prior to release.
- Drives engineering discipline and consistency across all storagemanagedplatforms.
- Direct engagement with global constituentsto acts as the seniorEngineeringescalation point for complex infrastructure decisions, trade‑offs, and cross-domain conflicts.
- Is accountable for ensuringquality, accuracy, and currency of the standards references library, infrastructure patterns, principals, and frameworks with categories of coverage aligned with Business and GTS needs
- Accountable foridentifying, investigating, and resolving systemic issuesimpacting platform stability
- Establish and executeContinuous Improvement Plans (CIPs)to address root causes and improve platform reliability, performance, and supportability.
- Sponsor engineering-led remediation initiatives for repeat or high-impact incidents.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Establish a rotational on-call engineering model to support Operations teams in resolving:
- Complex incidents
- Cross‑platform issues
- Critical outages
- Reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) through SME engagement and rapid escalation support.
Capacity & Demand Planning:
- Lead capacity planning activities in partnership with Operations andLoBs.
- Ensure platforms meet:
- Performance requirements
- Cost optimization targets
- Alignforecasts with investment planning and infrastructure strategy.
- Ensure all vendors and partners:
- Adhere to Scotiabank technology standards
- Meet security and compliance requirements
- Align with currency and lifecycle management expectations (LCM)
- Provide engineering oversight for outsourced/managed solutions, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance.
Feature Enablement & Platform Evolution:
- Accountable for technology feature enablement aligned to Lineof Business (LoB) requirements.
- Ensure platforms evolve to support:
- New capabilities
- Security enhancements
- Automation‑first operations
- Translate business needs into engineering deliverables and platform roadmaps.
Automation & Engineering Efficiency:
- Drive automation of manual, repetitive, and operationally intensive tasks, including:
- Provisioning workflows
- Monitoring and remediation actions
- Improve efficiency, reduceoperational risk, and enable scale and consistency.
Financials & Business Case Ownership:
- Develop and submitbusiness casesfor:
- Capacity expansion
- Technology currency upgrades
- Strategic platform investments
- Partner withGTEPFinance and PMOto ensure funding alignment and execution discipline.
