Driver / Workshop Labourer – Mechanical & Electrical Support

Located in Calgary, AB, Allied Centrifuge Technologies specializes in the design, manufacturing, servicing, and industrial processing of equipment. We are a growing company looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Driver / Workshop Labourer to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on industrial environment and is comfortable splitting their time between driving and deliveries, shipping and receiving, and working in our workshop. The successful candidate will assist our mechanical and electrical teams with equipment preparation, disassembly, assembly, maintenance, and general shop activities.
The position will also involve assisting with the coordination and supervision of mechanical and electrical work, helping ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Driving, Deliveries & Shipping/Receiving
- Safely operate company vehicles to pick up and deliver parts, equipment, and components.
- Perform local and on occasion outside city limits.
- Safely hook up, tow, load, unload, and secure flat-deck trailers.
- Inspect vehicles, trailers, and equipment before use and report any issues.
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including unloading deliveries, checking incoming materials, organizing inventory, and preparing outgoing shipments.
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to load, unload, move, and organize materials.
- Properly rig and secure equipment, components,
and materials for transportation.
- Maintain accurate and organized shipping and receiving areas.
Workshop & Equipment Support
- Assist with the disassembly, cleaning, preparation, assembly, and servicing of large industrial equipment.
- Work alongside Welders, Machinists, Millwrights, Electricians, and other workshop personnel.
- Assist with mechanical and electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment preparation as directed.
- Use hand and power tools including grinders, die grinders, impact wrenches, drills, and other shop equipment.
- Pressure wash and clean industrial equipment and components.
- Perform basic maintenance on company equipment, vehicles, and shop facilities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and work area.
General Responsibilities
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform regular inspections of vehicles, equipment, lifting devices, and tools.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and organization throughout the facility.
- Work safely and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Perform other general workshop, material-handling, and labour duties as required.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Previous experience towing flat-deck trailers.
- Experience safely loading, securing, and transporting equipment and materials.
- Experience with shipping and receiving or material handling is an asset.
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Experience operating an overhead crane.
- Mechanical aptitude and practical mechanical experience is an asset.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools.
- Previous experience working around industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, or electrical systems.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and work procedures.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Intermediate English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work safely in a quick-paced industrial workshop environment.
- Ability to work independently and take direction when required.
