Electrical Engineer – Industrial DC Power & Battery Charging Systems

Location: Halton Hills, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, customization, production, and technical development of industrial power rectifiers, battery charging systems, DC power equipment, and power distribution assemblies.

The successful candidate will work with Sales, Mechanical Design, Power Electronics, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Testing, and Service teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and manufacturable equipment for industrial, rail, utility, and other critical applications, including nuclear power facilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, interconnection diagrams, terminal plans, panel layouts, and manufacturing documentation.

· Design and document electrical circuits for rectifiers, battery chargers, battery systems, control panels, and power-distribution equipment.

· Review customer specifications, tender documents, drawings, and technical requirements, and translate them into practical equipment designs.

· Support Sales during quotations, technical proposals, order reviews, compliance matrices, and customer clarification activities.

· Select and specify electrical components, including circuit breakers, fuses, relays, contactors, transformers, terminal blocks, switches, meters, surge-protection devices, and control equipment.

· Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials, component specifications, and released engineering documentation.

· Coordinate with mechanical, power-electronics, production, quality, purchasing, testing, and service teams throughout the product lifecycle.

· Support production, prototype assembly, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues.

· Participate in design reviews, engineering changes,



product improvements, cost-reduction initiatives, and design-for-manufacturing activities.

· Ensure designs meet applicable customer requirements, electrical standards, safety practices, and internal quality procedures.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

· Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for registration as a P.Eng. in Ontario is considered an asset.

· Experience with industrial electrical equipment, control panels, DC power systems, rectifiers, battery chargers, switchgear, or power-distribution assemblies.

· Proficiency developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and manufacturing drawings.

· Experience preparing bills of materials and selecting industrial electrical components.

· Working knowledge of circuit breakers, fuses, relays, contactors, transformers, terminal blocks, meters, switches, and industrial control equipment.

· Proficiency with electrical CAD software and engineering document-control systems.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while developing safe, reliable, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs.

· Robust problem-solving, technical writing, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with industrial battery systems, UPS systems, rectifiers, DC distribution equipment, or battery charging systems.

· Knowledge of grounding, electrical protection, fault ratings, and electrical safety requirements.

· Experience supporting factory acceptance testing, commissioning, field service, or technical customer meetings.

· Experience in rail, utility, transportation, nuclear, or other safety-critical industries.

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
