The Role
The Employee Benefits Coordinator owns day-to-day benefits administration — including leave management, compliance, and employee inquiries — while supporting broader functional priorities.
- Success in this role requires rigor across benefits administration, sound judgment under time pressure, and a service mindset that scales with a shared services business model.
What You'll Do
1.
Benefits Administration &
- Compliance
- Administer employee benefit programs — medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefits — including enrollments, changes, and terminations across HRIS and carrier systems.
- Administer paid leave programs (FMLA, STD, ADA) across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and internal requirements.
- Maintain benefit files, records, and data integrity across HRIS and vendor systems; conduct monthly audits and invoice reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and resolve integration errors across payroll and perks platforms (Paylocity, Bswift, Principal, Wex, Cigna); manage vendor relationships to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Process verification-of-employment requests and support benefits-related onboarding and offboarding activities.
2. Enrollment, Communications &
- Education
- Lead annual Open Enrollment, including Wellness Fair planning, hybrid info sessions, incentive programs, and employee communications.
- Serve as primary point of contact for the Benefits inbox — triaging inquiries, resolving routine cases, and escalating complex issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Develop and distribute benefit communications, announcements, and educational materials; present benefits information during new-hire orientation and team sessions.
3. Wellness &
- Employee Engagement
- Design and coordinate wellness initiatives and events in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.
- Support company-wide People Operations programs, engagement events, and culture-building activities.
4. Projects, Systems &
- People Operations Support
- Identify and implement process improvements; author and maintain standard operating procedures for benefits and People Operations functions.
- Support HRIS and benefits system implementations, testing, and vendor transitions.
- Support recruiting and cross-functional People Operations initiatives; contribute to ad hoc projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related People Operations role; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems (Paylocity preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive employee information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines — particularly critical given responsibility for benefits administration across 500+ employees.
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Compensation
Base Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 We build compensation structures that reflect comparable market rates for companies of similar size, revenue, and geography, while recognizing individual experience, performance, and demonstrated capability.
