About Us

McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.

The Role

Cameco is looking for an experienced engineering professional to join the McArthur River technical team. Reporting to the chief engineer, maintenance, you will provide engineering support for the site’s electrical and instrumentation infrastructure, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mining and milling processes. This role plays a key part in maintaining asset integrity, improving equipment performance, and supporting production objectives.

In This Role, You Will

- Provide electrical engineering support and troubleshooting for mining and milling operations.
- Investigate equipment and system failures and develop solutions to improve reliability and performance.
- Lead and support electrical engineering projects, including scope development, cost estimates, specifications, and design documentation.




- Review and provide technical oversight for work completed by consultants and internal engineering teams.
- Ensure engineering designs and projects comply with Cameco standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Be responsible for asset reliability and continuous improvement activities related to electrical system infrastructure.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and construction teams to plan and execute maintenance and capital improvement initiatives.

Required

- bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering;
- four to eight years of experience in the field of maintenance and improvement of electrical systems or infrastructures in a production environment, preferably, underground and surface mining operations.
- eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
- Professional Engineer designation (P. Eng);
- knowledge in various aspects of electrical engineering, familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, high and medium voltage installations, electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, system improvement, operational reliability;
- knowledge in generators, transformer and distribution system, large size motors, PLCs, sleds, MCC system, switchgears/breakers/relays and other electrical equipment; an
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.

Recommended

- experience in a mining/milling setting;
- PLC system experience;
- familiarity of instrument and control systems;
- CAD knowledge and experience;
- hands-on experience on improvement of electrical infrastructure, troubleshooting, providing guidance to electrical maintenance team; and
- strong communication, planning,



and organizational skills.
