We are seeking an Engineer-in-Training / Project Technologist to join our Emissions Reduction and Compliance (ERC) team in the Greater Toronto Area. This is an entry-level opportunity for a motivated candidate with a background in environmental engineering, sciences, or a related discipline who is interested in supporting both water and air compliance projects for industrial, commercial, and institutional clients.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineer-in-Training / Project Technologist will support a broad mix of water and air-related environmental consulting assignments across Ontario and other jurisdictions. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Engineers, you will help clients understand and meet regulatory requirements related to water, wastewater, stormwater, air emissions, noise, dust, odour, ventilation, and environmental reporting.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop technical expertise, gain field experience, and build a career in environmental consulting while contributing to both water and air-focused projects. The successful candidate will assist the Water Services and Air Services teams with field investigations, sampling and monitoring programs, data review, preliminary calculations, technical reporting, permitting support, and design support. Typical assignments may include water and wastewater sampling, stormwater and process water assessments, water treatment design support, air emissions data collection, air modelling assistance, noise and vibration monitoring, ventilation-related field reviews, and preparation of technical memoranda and compliance reports.

The position is well suited to an Engineer-in-Training or junior technologist who enjoys a mix of field and office work, has strong attention to detail, and wants to build a broad technical foundation in environmental consulting.

Your Role and Action

- Assist the Water Services Team with water, wastewater, stormwater, and process water projects, including field sampling, sample coordination, equipment preparation, laboratory coordination, data review, and preparation of results tables.




- Support water and wastewater treatment design and optimization assignments by compiling background information, reviewing analytical data, completing preliminary calculations, assisting with equipment layouts, and preparing draft technical notes under the direction of project engineers.
- Assist the Air Services Team with air quality, noise, vibration, permitting, and reporting projects, including field measurements, site observations, emissions data collection, air modelling inputs, and preparation of supporting documentation.
- Support ventilation-related projects by assisting with site reviews, equipment inventories, airflow information gathering, design documentation, and coordination with senior technical staff.
- Conduct site visits to collect information, complete field forms, take photographs, perform sampling or monitoring, and communicate observations to project managers and technical leads.
- Assist with technical reports, permit applications, proposals, work plans, project correspondence, and other deliverables related to water, wastewater, stormwater, air quality, noise, ventilation, and environmental compliance projects.
- Represent Pinchin through professional conduct and follow quality control, field documentation, and health and safety protocols in the office and at client facilities.
- Manage assigned project tasks to meet quality standards, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining accurate project records and time tracking.
- Participate in client meetings, technical training, and professional development opportunities while contributing to a collaborative team environment and exceptional client service.

What You’ll Bring To Pinchin We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who is eager to build a career in environmental consulting while contributing to meaningful water, wastewater, stormwater, air, and environmental compliance projects.

- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Engineering Technologist, or a related technical discipline is preferred. A relevant college diploma may also be considered for a technologist role.
- Eligibility to work as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or junior technologist is preferred.
- Must be eligible and able to obtain PSPC/PWGSC Reliability Status clearance
- Interest in environmental consulting, industrial compliance, water and wastewater treatment, air quality, noise and vibration, permitting, reporting, and ventilation design.
- Previous co-op, internship, academic, or work experience involving water or wastewater sampling, environmental fieldwork, laboratory coordination, air quality work, modelling, monitoring, or technical reporting is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear notes, tables,



calculations, and draft report sections.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with technical software, data analysis tools, CAD, GIS, or air modelling software (e.g. AERMOD, SCREEN3, CadnaA) is an asset.

- Knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting requirements, such as O. Reg. 419 and NPRI reporting, is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a consulting environment.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from project managers, engineers, and senior technical staff.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment when required, willingness to travel to client sites and conduct fieldwork in industrial settings, and ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- A current and valid driver’s license, sufficient insurance, and access to a vehicle are required. Work-related travel will be compensated.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet project deadlines, and occasionally work outside regular business hours when required.
