Position Summary

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician plays an important role in supporting the safe, effective, and reliable operation of the Club’s indoor and outdoor facilities. This hands-on position is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting building systems and equipment, completing repairs, and supporting the ongoing upkeep of the Club’s facilities, grounds, and operational equipment.

The successful candidate will bring strong practical expertise in plumbing, carpentry, or electrical, while also working collaboratively with other Technicians to develop broader knowledge across multiple trades and building systems. The role requires sound judgment, adaptability, strong communication, and the ability to manage changing priorities in a busy Club environment.

A significant portion of the role involves supporting ice-making and resurfacing operations, the ammonia refrigeration plant, and other core facility systems. As such, the successful candidate must either possess the required certifications or be willing to obtain them within the specified timeframes.

Position Responsibilities

Technical Knowledge & Expertise – 50%

- Strong working knowledge across multiple building systems and trades; no two days are the same in this diverse role.
- We are looking for a Technician who brings a focused skill set in one of the following areas: plumbing, carpentry,



or electrical — and who is eager to both apply that expertise and learn from teammates with complementary strengths.
- Ability to read and understand machine or shop drawings.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude to understand how equipment functions and how to assess repair or part needs.
- Comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools for general maintenance and repair work.
- Safe and effective operation of all ice-making and resurfacing equipment (e.g. Zamboni, Olympia, edgers).
- Hands-on support with the facility’s core systems including mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Basic upkeep and operation of our ammonia ice plant and related infrastructure (training provided).
- Contribute to the repair and ongoing maintenance of Club buildings, grounds, and both stationary and mobile equipment.
- Use sound judgment to operate equipment and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a high standard of service and professionalism across all areas of the Club.
- Willingness to perform additional tasks as required to support the team and Club operations.

- Robust communication skills to foster productive working relationships across departments and with external vendors.

- Able to remain adaptable, resourceful, and solutions-focused in a dynamic environment.

Organizational & Time Management Skills – 20%
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities — able to balance shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
- Use our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, communicate progress, and document completed work.

Skills & Qualifications

- Experience in a facility maintenance, building operations, or skilled trades role, or a combination of education and experience that supports success in this type of environment.




- Strong hands-on skills in plumbing, carpentry, or electrical, with an openness to learning other disciplines.
- Proficiency with tools, troubleshooting, and common repair techniques.
- Physically able to perform demanding tasks in a variety of environments (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely).
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and late-night shifts as scheduled.
- Willingness to obtain or complete the following (if not already held):
- Refrigeration Safety Awareness (RSA) – within 6 months
- Pool Operators Level 1 Certificate – within 6 months
- Hollyburn Ice Resurfacer Program – within 3 months

Working Conditions:

- This position operates 100% on-site
- Regular evenings or weekend work will be required
- Own transportation is an asset as public transportation is not frequent to/from the Club
