Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Nutrition, Food, Linen, and Environmental Services Supervisor and Manager, the Housekeeping Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients/residents, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing routine cleaning of resident rooms and common areas, as well as maintaining floors through waxing, stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and carpet cleaning using appropriate floor equipment.
The Housekeeping
Worker assists with the transport and setup of furniture, equipment, linen, and supplies, and ensures proper disposal and transport of site waste to designated receptacles. Additional responsibilities include assisting with personal laundry tasks as required.

Worker contributes to a safe and welcoming setting through consistent daily routines and adherence to high standards of cleanliness and infection control. The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality and demonstrating respect, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions.

Worker participates in departmental meetings and initiatives, supports the orientation and training of new staff and students, and performs additional duties as assigned. All responsibilities are carried out with minimal supervision and in accordance with established operating standards, as well as the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health and La Crete Community Health Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Covenant Health currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300.
This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications
Applicants must be able to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions at approximately a Grade 10 level. This may be demonstrated through formal education or an equivalent combination of work, training and lived experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform specialized cleaning procedures in isolation areas while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation with strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English. Proficient in basic computer applications required for daily tasks. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong time management skills and the ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in all duties.
Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position, including standing for extended periods and safely moving or lifting up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in a hospital environment and adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235.
Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare environment, including knowledge of floor care maintenance procedures. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with training in customer service and relations. WHMIS certification required.
