DORA CONSTRUCTION is seeking a top-performing and experienced estimator to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the Commercial and Residential construction industry including construction cost, building codes, materials, products, methods and procedures. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to perform job cost estimates, establish material lists, collaborate with vendors, building cost assemblies, and keep up with ongoing Industry trends.
The Estimator will also work closely with our pre construction department, purchasing department, Pre fabricated Wood, Design, Business Development, and construction departments to assist in gathering necessary information related to each project. Duties and Responsibilities:
· Estimate cost of construction for recent and existing product, resulting in accurate job cost, via compiling material and labor unit price takeoffs, bids from vendors, and performing other estimates.
· Estimate cost of concrete and wood structural and design related options.
· Develop structural option material takeoffs, and contract pricing.
· Coordinate w/engineers and field personal to incorporate value engineering concepts into the design and construction of the projects
· Attend project manager meetings to answer questions about takeoffs or engineering issues and prevent misuse of materials and eliminate variances
· Walk Projects under construction looking for cost savings and material usage opportunities
· Enter option takeoffs and budgets into the system.
· Assist with take offs and pricing for custom options requested by Sales and design staff
· Research and help eliminate all material, trade contractor,
and estimating related variances
· Continually challenge and validate existing take offs to ensure variance objectives are met
· Maintain historical cost data
· Prepare analysis of cost impacts based upon potential decision and or specification changed as needed.
· Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and presents data as requested.
· Conduct product/material research.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
· 5-10 Years Commercial or Residential Construction Estimating with the ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and business management skills are required.
· Proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to learn (Pro Est) in house estimating software
· Excellent research skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to review and understand construction specifications, detail drawings, construction plans, and complete scope of work.
· A knowledge of materials, methods and costs involved in the construction of Wood framed Projects
· Strong mathematical, analytical, problem- solving and reporting skills needed.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of construction drawings and blueprints required.
· Strong communication, documentation and listening skills essential.
· Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to work in high-stress situations.
· Must be self-motivated with a desire to always improve both personally and professionally.
· Ability to work well with others and be part of a Team.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Experience:
