We are currently seeking an experienced Excavator / Shear Operator to join our team performing oilfield abandonment, demolition, and reclamation work throughout Alberta.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavators equipped with hydraulic shears and other attachments to complete demolition and abandonment activities. Work may include dismantling oilfield facilities, shearing tanks and structural steel, removing piles and piping, sorting and processing scrap material, loading trucks, and assisting with general site cleanup and reclamation.

Responsibilities

● Safely operate excavators equipped with hydraulic shears, buckets, grapples, and other attachments

● Perform demolition and dismantling of oilfield facilities and infrastructure

● Shear and process tanks, piping, structural steel, and other scrap materials

● Sort and stockpile scrap and demolition materials for transportation

● Load trucks and move materials as required

● Complete daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or repair concerns

● Maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition

● Work safely around ground personnel, trucks, equipment, overhead hazards, and existing infrastructure

● Follow company and client safe work procedures, FLHAs, permits, and site-specific requirements

● Communicate effectively with supervisors, ground personnel, and other equipment operators

● Assist with other site activities when required

Qualifications

● Previous excavator operating experience required





● Previous hydraulic shear and/or demolition experience strongly preferred

● Oilfield abandonment, reclamation, demolition, or scrap-processing experience considered a strong asset

● Strong understanding of secure equipment operation and hazard awareness

● Ability to perform detailed work around existing infrastructure

● Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions

● Ability to work independently and as part of a crew

● Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation

● Ability to pass client-required drug and alcohol testing

Safety Tickets

Preference will be given to applicants with current industry safety certifications such as:

● H2S Alive

● Standard First Aid / CPR

● CSO (Common Safety Orientation)

● Ground Disturbance Level II

● WHMIS

Additional client-specific training may be provided or required depending on the project.

Work Conditions

This position involves field work at oilfield abandonment and reclamation sites throughout Alberta. Applicants should be prepared for extended shifts, travel, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions. Schedule and hours may vary depending on project and operational requirements.

We are looking for an operator who takes pride in their equipment, understands the importance of working safely around people and infrastructure, and can operate efficiently without sacrificing control or safety.

Competitive compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $32.40-$42.11 per hour
