Executive Director, Acute Care Financial Services Executive Director, Acute Care Financial Services Ministry: Hospitals and Surgical Health Services Full or Part-Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Temporary The Alberta Public Service works to build a stronger province for current and future generations. The Ministry of Hospitals and Surgical Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care delivery system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health by delivering safe, person-centered, quality emergency and medical health services; procurement and contract management; and regulating hospital and emergency health care.

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Senior Financial Officer (ADM/SFO), you will play a key strategic financial leadership role ensuring that acute care financial management practices align with ministry priorities, government fiscal, strategy, and legislative and policy requirements. You will also actively engage and connect executive leadership, program areas, Corporate Finance, Shared Services, and central agencies. As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will play a key role shaping key government decisions by providing expert financial guidance on funding, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and governance.

You will bridge complex fiscal issues with practical, decision-ready recommendations that advance acute care priorities.



By building strong partnerships across the finance community, you will help lead the advancement of a One Finance approach by championing consistent and productive business processes, and delivering timely, insightful financial intelligence. Success in this role requires significant senior financial leadership within a large, complex organization.

You will bring demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of large-scale operating and capital budgets, with a proven ability to integrate financial strategy into business planning, Cabinet submissions, and corporate reporting processes. You also have a strong track record of managing financial compliance, restricted grants, and financial reporting in accordance with government policies, legislation, and accounting standards, while supporting robust business planning and organizational accountability. You are recognized for your ability to provide explicit, credible, and defensible strategic financial advice to senior executives and government decision-makers on complex and highly visible issues.

A bachelor's degree, along with a professional accounting designation (CPA) is required. $ 5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi-weekly ($153,902.57 - $202,256.21 annually) This is a temporary role up to 24 months.
