Full-Time | Seasonal (Sept/October–April)

Wage: $22–$24/hour, based on skilled bootfitting experience and technical skill

About Village Ski Hut

Village Ski Hut is an independent ski shop in Nelson, BC with a long history of serving the Kootenay ski community. We are a small, passionate team of skiers focused on providing exceptional service, technical expertise and a great customer experience.

Professional bootfitting is an important and growing part of our business, and we're looking for an experienced ski bootfitter to join our team for the upcoming winter season.

The Role

This is not an entry-level bootfitting position. We're looking for someone who already has professional bootfitting experience and is comfortable independently assessing fit issues, recommending solutions and performing technical boot modifications.

The successful candidate will work directly with customers through the complete bootfitting process, from initial assessment and boot selection through customization, custom footbeds and follow-up adjustments.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct professional ski boot fittings and assess individual foot shape, volume, fit concerns and skier needs.
- Recommend appropriate ski boots based on foot characteristics, skiing ability, terrain and performance goals.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot ski boot fit issues including pressure points, heel retention, instep pressure and volume concerns.
- Perform ski boot shell modifications, including punching/stretching and grinding.
- Perform liner heat molding and other boot customization techniques.
- Create, shape, grind and install custom-molded ski boot footbeds/insoles using our SIDAS custom insole system.
- Complete follow-up fittings and adjustments after customers have skied in their boots.
- Safely operate and maintain professional bootfitting tools and equipment.
- Provide knowledgeable advice and sales support for ski boots, skis, bindings and related equipment.




- Help maintain an organized and qualified bootfitting workspace.
- Assist with inventory, merchandising and general shop operations as part of our small team.

What We're Looking For Previous professional ski bootfitting experience is required.

Our ideal candidate has

- Professional experience fitting alpine ski boots in a specialty ski shop or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with ski boot shell modification, including punching and grinding.
- Experience creating and fitting custom-molded footbeds/insoles.
- Experience with liner molding and boot customization.
- Strong knowledge of ski boots, alpine ski equipment and the ski industry.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working independently with customers to diagnose and resolve fit problems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work efficiently during busy winter periods.
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to contribute to all aspects of a small specialty ski shop.
