Toronto Metropolitan University is reshaping the downtown core of Toronto with three new buildings: the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens, the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Centre in the heart of campus, and a Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. In addition, currently in progress is the development of a new multipurpose building, the Church Street development (CSD). This new building will be located just north of Dundas on Church Street and will be home to four academic health services programs, Toronto Met.

Department/School Contract Lecturer Appointment Committee Requirements In addition to the minimum TRSM qualification requirements, MHA(CC) requires applicants to maintain the following qualifications:

- Master’s Degree or PhD are preferred; equivalent work experience within the sector will be considered.
- Substantial work experience within healthcare, especially the community care sector.
- Demonstrated currency in and familiarity with policy in the Canadian health care system and/or the Canadian health information management and health informatics industry.
- Recent teaching experience in the course or a similar course.
- Evidence of having demonstrated skills/ability to teach effectively in a University Setting.
- PLEASE ATTACH RECENT STUDENT EVALUATIONS WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
- Evidence of recent qualified experience (provide listing of recent professional roles, consulting work, or other expert activities, with a listing of date, clients, time frames, and outcomes)

- Evidence of continuing strategy for maintaining currency in the field (scholarly activities, conferences, professional development courses, etc.) in accordance with Qualifications Information for Applicants.

- The relevant qualifications for this position include a minimum of a PhD degree and prior research experience. Preference to applicants who have previously worked with Dr. Cukier and who were successful in this position.
- The position will focus on administrative tasks with emphasis on coordination, D2L, .ppt presentations (creation/development), and AI tools.
- There will not be any grading/marking of any materials,no tutoring and/or teaching, no invigilating mid-terms of final exams.

Teaching Experience:

- Teaching target or similar course at Toronto Metropolitan University graduate program.
- Teaching target or similar course at another university graduate programs.
- Teaching target or similar course at Toronto Metropolitan University undergraduate program or another university undergraduate program.
- Teaching target course at College.

Practice field experience:

- Current (past 5 years) practice in related field 6-10 (depends on quality of experience, including relevance to course, level of responsibility, relevant professional accreditation, etc.)
- Past (more than 5 years ago) practice in a related field.

While applicants may submit Faculty/Course Survey results from the Winter 2020, Spring/Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Fall 2021 and Winter 2022, these results will not be used as evidence of teaching effectiveness by the Contract Lecturer Appointment Committee due to the impact of COVID-19 on these semesters. A negative inference will not be drawn if FCS results are not submitted for these semesters. Alternate evidence of teaching effectiveness may be provided by the candidate for consideration by the CLAC.

Teaching Skills:

- Demonstrated experience of ability to effectively teach in an online environment which includes demonstrated knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management of online courses, including using course management system tools to communicate with students and to foster and support a collaborative online learning community with and between students in the course.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of personal computers that are relevant to this course, including document creation, file management, internet research, and communications.

If a standard section is cancelled due to low enrollment, the required notice or payment in lieu of notice of cancellation will be provided.

!STANDBY SECTION DEFINITION: Please note that this package includes both standard section(s) as well as standby section(s). Standard section(s) are those that are expected to run based on historical enrolment numbers and student intention data and which are paid based on the terms of the collective agreement. If a standard section is cancelled due to low enrollment, the required notice or payment in lieu of notice of cancellation will be provided. Standby section(s) are sections that are scheduled and will only be opened if student demand warrants it. Standby sections are those with less likelihood to run than Standard sections based on uncertainty around student demand for the course. The decisions to open Standby sections will be made no later than 1 week before the start of classes. Should a decision be made to not open a standby section, no payment in lieu of notice will be offered. Should a decision be made to open a standby section, the payment for work will be in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement. ** RESTRICTED COURSES/SECTIONS DEFINITION:

- The University, through its CLACs, may offer available teaching to:
- Individuals deemed to have particular skills, knowledge, or experience needed to enhance a particular program; or
- Individuals from a group covered by the Ontario Human Rights Code where the position is designated by the University as requiring membership in such a group. The decision to designate positions falls within the University’s discretionary authority.

In these instances, the provisions of Article 14.10 and 14.11 respectively (Appointment Procedure – Selection), shall not apply. Such appointments may not exceed fifteen percent (15%) of the volume of work available for discharge in a given semester within a Faculty.
- Restricted work will not form part of a multi-course package (as outlined in Article 13.3(b)) with unrestricted work. All such decisions and the process leading to and incidental to such decisions are within management’s discretion and are not grievable.
