Desmarais, Keenan LLP is looking to add a Family Lawyer to our Sudbury, Ontario office.

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and personable lawyer to join our Family Law practice. Our family law clients come to us during some of the most challenging times in their lives, and we pride ourselves on providing thoughtful, practical and client-focused representation.

What You'll Do

- Advise and represent clients on a range of family law matters, including separation, divorce, parenting arrangements (custody and access), child and spousal support, and the division of property
- Draft and review separation agreements, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements and other domestic contracts
- Prepare pleadings, financial statements, affidavits and other court documents for family law proceedings
- Represent clients at case conferences, settlement conferences, motions and trials
- Guide clients through negotiation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to reach fair and lasting resolutions
- Manage a caseload of family law files,



including maintaining regular client communication and meeting court and limitation deadlines
- Liaise with opposing counsel, the courts, and other professionals in a professional and courteous manner
