PowerTeck Limited, the high-voltage and technical services sister division to Start, integrates with our low-voltage trades and engineering services teams to expand our turnkey engineering, construction, maintenance and technical service capabilities. The PowerTeck division maintains operational independence from Start Electric, facilitating substation maintenance, equipment testing, and leading projects for new station construction, refurbishment, equipment replacement, and emergency service/repair.
The Job
We are currently seeking an experienced to join our growing PowerTeck team. This permanent, full-time position provides operational leadership throughout the complete project lifecycle, including proposal development, estimating support, engineering coordination, construction planning, utility coordination, field execution, commissioning, and project closeout.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and Project Manager, the successful candidate will lead field operations while ensuring projects are safely executed, efficiently planned, and delivered to the highest quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Lead high-voltage (5-44kV) construction, maintenance and emergency response activities
- Supervise field personnel, subcontractors and specialty contractors
- Champion site safety, UWPC compliance and safe work practices
- Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings and customer walkthroughs
- Review engineering drawings and specifications for constructability
- Assist in technical equipment selection, material take-offs, and procurement planning
- Prepare preliminary labour estimates, project scopes and execution plans
- Perform and supervise medium/high-voltage cable terminations, equipment installations, routine maintenance, switching and basic acceptance testing
- Responding to emergency service calls and customer equipment failures
- Identify field changes, construction risks and change order opportunities
- Maintain quality documentation, field mark-ups and project closeout records
- Mentor apprentices and developing electricians while promoting continuous improvement
Required Skills The Applicant should demonstrate adequate knowledge and competency in the following areas:
- Medium/high-voltage construction and maintenance
- Medium-voltage cable terminations and equipment installations
- Electrical switching and utility work protection procedures (UWPC)
- Basic electrical testing and commissioning
- Material take-offs, construction planning, and estimating support
- Ability to read electrical drawings, specifications and one-line diagrams
- Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Fluent English, with strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision
- Strong planning, prioritization and problem-solving skills
Physical & Working Conditions This position requires regular work at industrial and commercial facilities throughout Ontario.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working in active construction and operating industrial environments and be capable of performing the essential duties of the position, including:
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights
- Entering electrical rooms, substations and other industrial environments
- Standing, kneeling, bending and lifting materials, tools and equipment
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Travelling regularly to customer sites throughout Ontario
- Participating in emergency call-outs and occasional work outside normal business hours
Education, Experience & Qualifications Applicants shall meet the following minimum requirements:
- Licensed 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician
- Minimum five (5) years of industrial electrical experience, including medium and high-voltage construction and maintenance
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License
- Demonstrated experience supporting construction estimating, proposal development or project planning
The following are considered assets:
- Previous supervisory or foreperson experience
- Experience working with Ontario Local Distribution Companies or UWPC systems
- Ontario Class D Driver's License
- NETA testing or commissioning experience
