Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our Accounting Operations team as a Financial Analyst for a 20-month term.

Supporting Corporate

Finance and City business units, you will provide financial analysis, reporting, and advisory services focused on accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting. You will oversee reconciliations, resolve accounting and payment issues, strengthen internal controls, and support improvements to financial systems and processes. Using your leadership, communication, and analytical skills, you may also coordinate the work of finance staff, manage projects, enhance financial reporting and accounting systems, and support internal audits.

A Financial Analyst implements, approves, analyzes and improves financial reporting and accounting systems. Coordinates the work of other financial services staff.

Duties - Union

- Critically analyzes data, interprets information, legislation and policy, and provides recommendations.
- Prepares complex spreadsheets for financial accounting functions.
- Liaises with other department staff and external organizations in support of municipal operations.
- Develops, reviews and approves financial transactions and reports.
- Develops, monitors and audits special projects and agreements.
- Researches and assists with policy development.
- Coaches financial services staff.
- Prepares and delivers presentations.




- Drafts and prepares Council Reports.

Results and Activities - Non union Credentials - Union

Option 1

- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
- 2 years of experience at the Accountant level or higher

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 5 years of experience at the Accountant level or higher
