- Individuals experiencing homelessness or unstable housing
- People on limited or fixed incomes

- People from all cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous and LGBTQ+ communities

Position Overview:
Back Door Mission is seeking a qualified individual to assist with the coordination of daily services offered by Back Door Mission and Mission United Hub. Reporting to the Operations Lead, the Floor Coordinators will be responsible for responding to coordinator calls to assist with coverage, challenges and individual needs that arise within service stations. Floor Coordinators will also assist with the development and delivery of group programming for patrons when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the coordination of stations and service delivery during operational hours
- Respond to coordinator calls to assist with coverage, challenges and individual needs that arise at service stations
- Engage with individuals accessing Back Door Mission and Mission United Program with intentionality and thoughtfulness
- Monitor patron’s progress by taking a case management approach and
- Maintain accurate and up to date client records using the HIFIS (HomelessIndividual Information System)
- Provide a bridge between social services and health care services for those experiencing homelessness
- Participate in and run appropriate group programming on site at the Back Door Mission
- Help develop new metrics of success for patron’s progress, including new housing, housing retention, employment, well-being, and others.
Work with the Region of Durham via management to ensure appropriate targets are established and met
- Develop and lead workshops surrounding topics such as, but not limited to tenant rights and responsibilities, financial literacy, life skills development and housing search
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards
- Other related work as assigned
Qualifications/Skills:
- Holds appropriate educational experiences either by formal or informal training. A degree or diploma in Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, or has prior working and/or life experience Lived Experience is considered a solid asset
- Performs with a high level of professionalism in all areas of their work environment
- Demonstrated creativity to generate new ideas, proposals and procedures
- Has a working knowledge of corrections, domestic violence and the role of trauma, FASD, children services, brain injuries and medication
- Has practical knowledge of motivational interviewing, active listening, the stages of change, teaching and modelling behaviour
- Has strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk accordingly
- Exceptional problem solving skills
- Provide a vulnerable sector police background check
- Working knowledge of HIFIS, SPDAT and the Durham Region Coordinated Access System is considered a strong asset
- Working knowledge of the Housing First Model/Philosophy and Family and Natural Support Framework is considered an asset
