Food and Beverage Server – SUMAQ Iraqi Charcoal GrillJob Overview

SUMAQ Iraqi Charcoal Grill is looking for friendly, professional, and experienced Food and Beverage Servers to join our front-of-house team.

As a Food and Beverage Server, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, taking accurate orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guests have a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience.

SUMAQ is a busy, fast-paced restaurant specializing in authentic Iraqi cuisine and charcoal-grilled dishes. We are looking for team members who are confident communicating with customers, work well under pressure, and take pride in delivering excellent hospitality.

Responsibilities

- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide menus and answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Explain SUMAQ's Iraqi dishes, charcoal-grilled items, shawarma, appetizers, beverages, and other menu offerings.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders.
- Enter customer orders correctly into the POS system.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.
- Check on guests throughout their meal and respond to requests in a timely manner.
- Communicate clearly with kitchen staff regarding orders, modifications, allergies, and special requests.
- Process cash, debit, credit card, and other customer payments accurately.
- Prepare tables and dining areas before, during, and after service.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and front-of-house areas.
- Refill beverages, condiments, napkins, utensils, and other guest supplies as required.
- Assist with takeout and delivery orders when needed.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and notify management when necessary.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures.




- Work closely with other servers, cashiers, kitchen staff, and management to provide efficient service.
- Complete opening, closing, and assigned cleaning duties.
- Perform other front-of-house duties as required by management.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of previous restaurant serving or food and beverage service experience is required.
- Experience working in a busy, high-volume restaurant environment is preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly, professional, and positive attitude.
- Ability to take orders accurately and manage multiple tables at the same time.
- Comfortable using a restaurant POS system.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to carry plates, trays, beverages, and restaurant supplies as required.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of Iraqi or Middle Eastern cuisine is an asset but not required.

Experience Restaurant Server / Food and Beverage Service Experience: Minimum 2 years required
