As a Steel Trades Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering the training programs developed by the Steel Practice Lead for employees in the Welding & Fabrication and Mechanical Assembly departments, supporting them in the development of their technical and practical skills. More specifically, you will:

- Deliver theoretical and practical training in welding and fabrication within the context of a shipyard undergoing significant transformation and expansion.
- Assess employees’ competency development through theoretical and/or practical evaluations.
- Participate in the updating and continuous improvement of theoretical and practical training content.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure continuity and effective transfer of skills in the workplace.
- Stay current with technical and instructional best practices within your area of expertise.
- Assess and certify employees’ competencies in accordance with applicable standards.
- Maintain a protected and inclusive learning environment.
- Coordinate the logistics of the various stages of the training process.
- Perform administrative tasks related to training activities, such as managing attendance records, updating employee training files, preparing and issuing competency cards, ordering training materials and equipment,



entering post-training data into the system, and other related duties.
- - College diploma in Metallurgy or Welding and Fabrication.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a trainer/instructor.
- Experience with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, Air Carbon Arc Gouging (Arc Air), PAC, and OAC welding processes (an asset).
- Experience reading blueprints and welding symbols, knowledge of metallurgy principles, welding defects, visual inspection techniques, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
- Skills and experience in piping/plumbing systems (an asset).
