Overview:

The Forward Deployed Engineer will identify, design, build, and embed high-value AI-enabled workflows across the business. The role sits at the intersection of operations, technology, and change management: understanding how each function works, finding opportunities where AI can improve outcomes, and ensuring that pilots become useful, repeatable ways of working.

This is a hands-on technical role that works directly with functional experts and leadership to translate business problems into practical AI solutions. Its purpose is to create a clear, company-wide adoption engine-prioritizing, building, implementing, measuring, and scaling the right initiatives without taking ownership of each department's work.

The role will provide opportunities to collaborate with top AI researchers from the Vector Institute, and to contribute to publishable conference research.

Core responsibilities:

- Develop a practical AI adoption roadmap aligned with company priorities and near-term business outcomes.
- Meet with teams across the business to map key workflows, understand bottlenecks, and identify high-value use cases.
- Prioritize opportunities based on impact, feasibility, cost, risk, and readiness for adoption.
- Design and run focused pilots, then turn successful pilots into documented, scalable workflows.
- Build or configure AI tools, automations, and integrations; partner with process owners and technical resources where deeper specialization is needed.
- Create clear guidance for responsible use, including data handling, quality control, human review, and vendor/tool evaluation

- Build lightweight enablement: playbooks, training, examples, and feedback loops that help teams adopt current workflows confidently.
- Track results, including time saved, quality improvements, adoption, and business impact; communicate progress and decisions to leadership.
- Stay current on relevant AI capabilities and bring forward recommendations that are grounded in our actual business needs-not technology for its own sake.

What success looks like:

- Teams have clear, safe, and repeatable AI-enabled workflows for meaningful parts of their work.
- The company develops a prioritized pipeline of opportunities instead of disconnected experimentation.
- Successful use cases are measured, documented, and scaled across relevant functions.
- Adoption increases productivity and quality while maintaining appropriate human accountability and data safeguards.

Required Skills:

- Strong understanding of how work gets done across multiple business functions.
- Practical experience improving processes, implementing tools, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Comfortable translating between operational needs and technology capabilities.
- High curiosity about AI, paired with sound judgment about where it is-and is not-the right answer.
- Clear communicator who can earn trust, guide change, and work effectively with both leadership and individual contributors.
- Strong hands-on technical ability, including rapid prototyping, AI-tool integration, workflow automation, and sound software-engineering judgment.

Pay: $21.67-$31.53 per hour
