Overview

We are seeking a passionate and energetic French or English Daycare Director to lead our early childhood education center with enthusiasm and dedication. In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations, foster a nurturing environment, and ensure the highest standards of care and education for young children. Your leadership will inspire staff, engage families, and promote a vibrant community focused on early childhood development.

Duties

- Lead the daily operations of the daycare center, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging workplace for children and staff
- Develop and implement educational programs aligned with early childhood education best practices
- Supervise and support teaching staff, providing mentorship and ongoing professional development
- Coordinate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development for children
- Maintain compliance with licensing regulations and health and safety standards
- Foster positive relationships with families through regular communication and parent engagement initiatives
- Oversee classroom experience to ensure quality care, including working directly with children when needed
- Collaborate with staff to adapt programs for children with disabilities or special needs
- Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting

Qualifications





- Proven classroom experience in early childhood education or caregiving roles
- Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including those with disabilities
- Strong teaching skills combined with a genuine passion for early childhood development
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practices
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a hands-on approach in classrooms
- Excellent communication skills to engage both staff and families positively
- Bilingual proficiency in French or English is preferred but not required; fluency in either language is essential
- Certification or training in caregiving, teaching, or early childhood education is highly desirable
- Alberta Child Care Level 3 Certification (required)
- Minimum 1 years in a Director role, or 3 years in an Assistant Director capacity
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing and early learning best practices
- A good knowledge of childcare subsidies and grants
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search , First Aid Certification, food safety certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
