Full-Time Kennel Attendant

Mowatt Canine Company is looking for a caring, dependable, and motivated Full-Time Kennel Attendant to join our team. This is an active, hands-on role focused on making sure every dog in our day school and overnight boarding programs receives safe, attentive, and compassionate care.

Availability

Our dogs rely on us for care every day, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. We are looking for someone with flexible availability who can work a combination of weekday, morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Shift times will vary depending on business and animal-care needs.

Compensation

$17.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely supervise dogs during group play, individual outings, and rest periods
- Monitor each dog’s behaviour, health, comfort, and overall well-being
- Provide food, fresh water, exercise, and enrichment according to individual care instructions
- Clean and disinfect kennels, crates, play areas, yards, dishes, and facility spaces
- Promptly pick up waste and help maintain a clean, welcoming environment
- Follow all safety, handling, sanitation, and emergency procedures
- Document completed care tasks and communicate any concerns to management
- Assist with client arrivals and departures when required
- Support fellow team members and work together to ensure every dog receives excellent care

Qualifications





- Previous professional animal-care, kennel, daycare, boarding, or dog-handling experience is preferred
- Comfortable working with dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
- Calm, patient, observant, and able to make safe decisions in a busy environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed instructions
- Comfortable completing frequent cleaning and physically active tasks
- Able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
- Must have dependable transportation to and from the facility
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely lift up to 50 pounds

While spending time with dogs is an important and rewarding part of this position, the role also includes plenty of cleaning, close supervision, and attention to detail. These responsibilities are essential to keeping the dogs in our care happy, healthy, and safe.
