Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Gallery Attendant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts and be creative, organized, reliable, and responsible.

Hours: 25–30 hours per week

Wage: $16.00 per hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

Overview The purpose of this position is to support the Gallery Director in carrying out PHAC’s mandate to promote arts and culture in the Pembina Valley. The Gallery Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and continuity of PHAC’s day-to-day activities and in providing a welcoming and professional experience for visitors, artists, participants, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Excellent Customer Service & Reception

- Open and close the gallery.
- Provide exceptional guest services and ensure a positive experience for all visitors.
- Process program registrations, gift shop sales and other products/services/tickets for purchase.
- Provide support to gift shop and gallery volunteers.

1. Office Administration

- Maintain current and accurate records and statistics (members, volunteers, visitors, exhibitors, newsletter recipients, programs, etc.)
- General office duties including but not limited to: answering phone calls, checking voicemail & mailbox, responding to email inquiries, paperwork, etc.
- Performing daily cash count and reconciliation
- Maintaining office supplies, kitchen supplies, etc.
- Manage the quarterly gift shop rentals and oversee the completion of the subsequent contracts.
- Under the supervision of the Gallery Director, assist with PHAC’s marketing and communications, including managing content for Facebook, Instagram, the website, Mailchimp, online event calendars,



and creating promotional posters and other marketing materials.
- Process event and rental bookings.
- Manage website programs, events, registrations, etc.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Maintain gift shop and other relevant contracts under the supervision of the Gallery Director, using the templates provided.
- Establish and maintain records, spreadsheets & schedules of programs.

1. Other Responsibilities

- Light cleaning duties as needed.
- Supervision of part-time student staff and volunteers as required.
- Provide organizational support for events.
- Help install and dismantle gallery exhibitions.
- Create labels and interpretive materials for artwork.
- Help the Gallery Director to organize exhibition as needed.
- Other tasks requested by the Gallery Director Director and/or Board of Directors as mutually agreed upon.

Position Requirements

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with the use of computers (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Proficient with Canva
- Interest in Arts & Culture

Assets

- Solid ability to network with individuals, volunteers, patrons, etc.
- Strong organizational skills
- Previous experience working with non-profit organizations.
- Previous experience working in the Arts & Culture sector.
- Experience with computer programs such as QuickBooks, and a general understanding of how to manage a website (Squarespace)
- Access to a vehicle
- Current Serve it Safe Certificate and previous experience serving alcohol.
