About This Position

About the Role

As a member of the Dating, Domestic and Sexualized Violence Office and overall Student Support team, the Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response Advisor plays a crucial role in promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment by raising awareness, providing education, and supporting survivors of gender-based violence. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement prevention programs, trainings, and resources to address gender-based violence on campus.

This is a limited term position with an end date of December 26, 2026.

Responsibilities

Education and Training

- Develop, deliver and evaluate comprehensive educational programs on gender-based violence prevention, bystander intervention, consent, healthy relationships, and related topics.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and presentations for students, staff, and faculty to increase awareness and understanding of gender-based violence issues.
- Collaborate with other campus departments and student organizations to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to gender-based violence prevention education.
- Stay up to date with current research, trends, and best practices in the field of gender-based violence prevention and education.

Resource Development

- Create and maintain educational resources, including brochures, handouts, online materials, and videos, to support gender-based violence prevention efforts.
- Develop and distribute information about available support services, reporting mechanisms, and campus policies related to gender-based violence.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to develop and update policies and procedures regarding gender-based violence prevention and response.

Survivor Support

- Provide compassionate and trauma-informed support to survivors of gender-based violence, including listening, validating, and connecting them to appropriate resources.
- Serve as a confidential resource for survivors, ensuring their rights, choices, and safety are respected throughout the reporting and healing process.
- Collaborate with campus counseling services, health centres, and external organizations to ensure survivors receive comprehensive support and care.

Awareness and Advocacy





- Plan and coordinate campus-wide awareness campaigns, events, and initiatives related to gender-based violence prevention and awareness.
- Collaborate with student groups, clubs, and organizations to promote a culture of consent, respect, and gender equality.
- Engage with local communities and external partners to foster collaborative efforts and expand the impact of gender-based violence prevention programs.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, gender studies, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in the area of gender-based violence work, including the developing and delivering of programs and trainings on gender-based violence prevention and response.
- In-depth knowledge of gender-based violence dynamics, intersectionality, trauma-informed care, and current research in the field.
- Strong understanding of survivor-centred approach and advocacy.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and reporting mechanisms related to gender-based violence.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary Range: $66,193.40 to $71,580.60. Closing Date: September 3, 2026
