We are recruiting an experienced Tooling Engineer to join our team to support our client in the automotive industry.
NOTE:
- 6-month contract that could be extended but no guarantee
- Ability to work all three shifts is required, primarily the off shifts (midnights and afternoons)
- Ability work overtime including weekends and holidays when required
- Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing, standardizing, and implementing cutting-edge tooling solutions that optimize cost, efficiency, and quality
- Setting-up tools and executing minor repairs on cutting tools using set-up sheets and tooling drawings
- Coordinating with cross functional teams to define project scope, production requirements, cost targets, project timeline, deadline, and customers
- Confirm tool readiness for new and existing manufacturing process
- Performing trials of new tools, documenting tool usage history, and tracking usage patterns
- Spearheading process improvement on tool life
- Performing calculations to set machine parameters such as spindle speeds, feed rates, etc.
- Regulating and verifying all tool tests, troubleshooting, and initiate corrective action
- Ensuring accurate tool delivery to shop floor
- Locating vendors for new and repair tools
- Update and maintain costs for tooling and tool management facilities to be used by process teams during cost study preparation
- Provide oversight and guidance to process teams in the approval of existing tool types, designs, processes and development of cost studies
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical,
Manufacturing, or related)
- 3 – 5 years of experience in tooling/manufacturing engineering with a strong focus on cutting tools, machining processes, and tooling management
- Strong technical background in machining, materials science, and cost analysis, coupled with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and standardization
- Deep understanding of cutting tool materials, geometries, and applications
- Proficiency in developing cost models, conducting machinability studies related to tooling
- Ability to create and interpret technical specifications, standards, and procedures for tooling
- Knowledge of global sourcing and procurement processes for tooling
- Advanced English (written and verbal) for reporting and cross-functional collaboration
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving complex tooling-related issues
- Proactive in identifying and implementing continuous improvements and new technologies
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $35.00 - $40.00 / hour (depending on experience)
- Paid Perks after 90 days (individual and family) – extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc.
