Job Overview

Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill is seeking a skilled and dependable Griller to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate has experience preparing grilled meats and other menu items in a quick-paced restaurant setting, while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, consistency, and safety.

The Griller is responsible for operating the grill station efficiently, ensuring all food is cooked to company standards, and supporting overall kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and grill meats, chicken, kebabs, vegetables, and other menu items according to recipes and company standards
- Set up and stock the grill station with all necessary supplies before service
- Ensure food is cooked properly, portioned correctly, and presented consistently
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and cooking times during service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grill station and kitchen area
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times
- Assist with marinating, skewering, seasoning, and other food prep duties as required
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service
- Monitor inventory levels and report low stock or product issues




- Handle grilling equipment safely and responsibly
- Assist with opening, closing, and daily cleaning duties
- Support other kitchen operations as needed during busy periods

Qualifications
- Previous experience as a griller, line cook, or in a similar kitchen role preferred
- Experience with charcoal grill or high-volume grill cooking is an asset
- Knowledge of proper cooking temperatures, food handling, and kitchen safety
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
