Head Bartender, Heron

Heron is looking for an experienced, personable Head Bartender to lead the bar at our modern Mexican restaurant in Etobicoke.

For us, this role is about more than making outstanding drinks. We want someone who enjoys getting to know people, remembers regulars, builds relationships with locals, and helps make Heron the kind of neighbourhood spot guests come back to again and again.

You should be confident behind the bar, warm with guests, highly organized, and someone who takes pride in the small details. From the consistency of every cocktail to the way the bar is set up, stocked and presented, attention to detail matters in this role.

Responsibilities include:

- Creating a welcoming, engaging atmosphere at the bar
- Building genuine relationships with regulars and local guests
- Leading bar service and setting the standard for the team
- Training and supporting bartenders
- Maintaining cocktail quality and consistency
- Helping develop seasonal cocktails and drink features
- Managing bar prep, organization and cleanliness
- Monitoring stock levels, waste and product usage
- Maintaining strong knowledge of tequila, mezcal and other agave spirits
- Working closely with the management and kitchen teams

- A naturally personable bartender who genuinely enjoys talking to guests
- Someone who understands the value of regulars and neighbourhood hospitality
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards for presentation and consistency
- Several years of bartending experience in a busy full service restaurant
- Previous lead bartender, bar supervisor or Head Bartender experience preferred
- Strong cocktail knowledge and technique
- Experience with tequila, mezcal and agave focused cocktails
- Strong organizational skills
- Confident leadership skills
- Reliable and calm during busy service
- Smart Serve certification

Heron is part of a small restaurant group with several venues in Toronto. For the right person, there is room to grow beyond this role as the group develops. We’re looking for someone who wants to become a familiar face in the community, build a loyal bar crowd, and take real ownership of the guest experience.

Schedule: Full time, with evening and weekend availability required.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
