Your Opportunity
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will be an active team member providing direct care to children and families within the Rotary Flames House. You will be providing pediatric palliative care to children and their families. Pediatric palliative care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements.
Pediatric palliative care focuses on the enhancement of the quality of life for the child and support for the family. Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or regulated healthcare qualified in accordance with their designated colleges' supervision guidelines, the HCA provides direct patient care to assist in the activities of daily living, comfort and safety of the child/youth and their family while they are guests of the House. The HCA provides indirect services to support the overall provision of care within Rotary Flames House.
The type of supervision (direct or indirect) will depend on the complexity of the task or procedure being assigned, the stability of the patient/client/resident and the skill level of the nursing assistant performing it. Additionally, you will be able to: work as a team member; request and accept direction as required; have effective interpersonal communication skills with children, families, visitors and other team members; have a compassionate and caring attitude that conveys respect and dignity for all persons; demonstrated initiative, accountability, time management skills, and problem solving ability; have exceptional organizational skills.

You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing.
