Main Objectives:

Responsible for housekeeping duties in all departments of the Kamloops Surgical Centre. Unlike hotel housekeeping, this role focuses heavily on infection control, changeover and terminal cleaning, with strict regulatory compliance.

Reports to:

Surgical Services Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed including daily, weekly, monthly, terminal theatre cleans and cleaning between cases.

· Ensure cleaning of other areas is complete.

· Ensure stock levels are maintained.

· Communicate with the team regarding changes in slates and reorganization of working day.

· Ensure that all completed work complies with College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia standards.

Qualifications required:

· Previous experience in healthcare preferred

· WHIMIS (can provide training if needed)

· CPR (can provide training if needed)

Working Conditions:

Part Time, Contract





This role will primarily be scheduled Monday- Wednesday 0800-1400, however the Centre is open Monday to Friday from 6am – 7pm and shift times may vary within this timeframe.

Physical Requirements The position is physical, bending and stretching and lifting during the course of a shift.

Strength Guidelines

· The ability to lift 20-30 pounds is essential for participation in patient care.

Motion Parameters

· Will require use of stairs, bending, squatting, twisting.

Vision and Hearing Requirements

· Vision and hearing must be good with the ability to hear in noisy situations, and ability to see fine details in the operating room.

Psychological Demands

· Calm demeanour is essential with the ability to make quick decisions under stressful circumstances.

Job Type: Permanent

Hourly Range: $22 - $25 / hour
