HR Consultant, Compensation & Total Rewards
Location: Hybrid (Canada) | Candidates must be located near a People Corporation office (Winnipeg, MB; Toronto, ON; Regina, SK; or Calgary, AB)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a knowledgeable and client-focused HR Consultant, Compensation & Total Rewards to join our HR Solutions team. This role is ideal for a human resources professional with strong compensation expertise who enjoys solving complex client challenges, working with data, and delivering practical, business-focused HR solutions.
While this position will support a broad range of HR consulting services, approximately 80% of the role will focus on compensation and total rewards consulting, including market analysis, compensation program design, pay structure development, and related advisory services. The successful candidate will bring a robust understanding of HR best practices, employment legislation, and total rewards trends, along with the ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality work across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and validate compensation data from a variety of internal and external sources to support market analysis and compensation program builds for a variety of sectors and industries
- Provide knowledge leadership for People First and our clients in the area of Total Rewards
- Maintain expertise in current Total Rewards practices, labour market conditions, legislation, and Canadian economic trends.
- Provide compensation and total rewards consulting services and project management directly to clients across Canada.
- Build HR programs and people and culture solutions for clients across Canada.
- Partner with assigned client groups in operational HR functions by providing best-practice advice and practical solutions.
- Manage HR projects from beginning to end, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately, professionally, and within expected timelines.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships that support long-term customer loyalty and continued success of the HR Consulting practice.
- Collaborate with team members and other People First HR Services and People Corporation divisions to ensure an integrated and high-quality client experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve tools, templates, processes, and service delivery.
- Adhere to time tracking, reporting, confidentiality, and project management requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience across areas such as employee and labour relations, performance management, policy development, and HR advisory services.
- Strong compensation and total rewards experience, including market analysis, pay structure development, and program design.
- Post-secondary education in HR, business, statistics, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent compensation and total rewards experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour laws, and HR best practices.
- Analytical with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data and develop practical, business-focused recommendations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and client deliverables.
- Client-service focused with experience advising a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with HR Information Systems.
Additional Assets
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation.
- Certified Compensation Professional designation, complete or in progress.
- Experience working across various business sectors and geographies.
- Experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities.
- Bilingualism in English and French.
- Consulting experience or experience managing a portfolio of clients.
Work Arrangement
- Full-time hybrid work environment
- Candidates must reside within commuting distance of a People Corporation office locations in Canada
- Required to work from a People Corporation office a minimum of two (2) days per week
- Willingness to travel occasionally
Salary Range The base salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
This represents base salary only and does not represent other compensation components of the total compensation (i.e. annual vacation allotments, RRSP contributions, bonus etc.). The actual base salary will vary depending on relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
