Employment Type: Temporary (Co-op) - 12 months
Under the guidance of the Human Resources Business Partner and other members of the HR team, the HR Co-op Student supports the Human Resources team in delivering a variety of HR services and projects, gaining hands-on experience across HR operations, HRIS implementation, and organizational development functions.
What you'll do
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Participate in the full recruitment lifecycle, from posting opportunities and screening candidates to scheduling interviews and supporting hiring decisions.
- Represent the company at career fairs and recruitment events, helping build our employer brand and engage with prospective talent.
- Assist with offer preparation and recent hire documentation to gain exposure to hiring processes and employment administration.
- Support onboarding and orientation programs that help create positive employee experiences from day one.
Organizational Development
- Contribute to employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Help gather and analyze employee feedback to support continuous improvement and a positive workplace culture.
- Participate in the development of HR communications and programs that enhance the employee experience.
- Conduct research on HR trends, emerging practices, and workforce initiatives.
Human Resources Administration
- Assist with employee data management, HR compliance activities, and responding to employee inquiries.
- Develop practical knowledge of HR records management, confidentiality requirements, and employment-related documentation.
- Develop analytical skills by supporting HR reporting, metrics tracking,
and data-driven decision-making.
HR Technology & Innovation
- Gain hands-on experience supporting the implementation and optimization of our Rippling Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Assist with system testing, process documentation, user guides, training materials, and end-user support.
- Support the implementation of automation tools like Microsoft Power Automate and Rippling workflows.
- Contribute to the internal knowledgebase by preparing job aids and documenting procedures.
- Participate in initiatives that improve HR service delivery and employee experience.
What you'll bring
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution majoring in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong desire to learn, with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of HR principles, employment legislation, or HR systems is an asset.
