*The hourly wage is a percentage of the Journeyman's rate ($45/hr). Internal applicants start at 70% of the Journeyman's rate. Newly hired apprentice will be given credit for accredited school term levels of apprenticeship.
Start: 60% of Journeyman rate ($27.00/hour) After 6 months: 65% After successful completion of the 1st school term: 70% After successful completion of the 2nd school term: 80% After successful completion of the 3rd school term: 90%

The Apprentice Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) position is open to individuals who are looking to begin their apprenticeship journey, as well as those currently completing their first year of a Millwright apprenticeship program.

Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to all company Health and Safety policies, procedures, and training requirements, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards and legislation.
Be successful in the various phases of learning and achieve minimum scores and achievements over the life of the apprentice program, and achieve red seal level certification upon completion.
Assist Millwright Journeyman with the maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of equipment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the maintenance and repair of pumps, valves, electric and pneumatic actuators, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, mechanical drives, speed reducers, and other related equipment within water and wastewater facilities and outlying stations.
Assist in the analysis and diagnostics of all types of mechanical and related equipment and make recommendations on a course of action for the repair or replacement of equipment.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and all applicable codes.
Interpret Operating & Maintenance (O&M;) manuals, diagrams, schematics, prints and recommend revisions.
Under supervision organize, coordinate and work with external contractors while performing maintenance or repairs to equipment, including the inspection of completed work to ensure it conforms to Regional standards and industry best practices.
Respond to emergency equipment failures, troubleshoot equipment and diagnose problems, identify needed resources and make repairs or work with contractors to complete work.
Duties and Responsibilities (Cont'd)
Provide support services to the Region’s Engineering group to assist with project implementation and the start-up and commissioning of equipment.
Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, customers and contractors through collaboration, communication and application of conflict resolution skills.
Utilize CMMS to record all work performed, source equipment parts, equipment history, and modify and update work status as required.
Perform welding, pipe fitting and rigging as required.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Secondary School Diploma and be either interested in becoming an an apprentice or already be a 1st Year Millwright Apprentice.
Minimum of one (1) year related work experience
Ability to work in various working conditons, ranging from outdoors and indoors and in a variety of weather conditions and height.
Willing to take direction, follow the lead of qualified millwrights and support our one team culture.
Preferred
Experience working in a maintenance setting.
Completion of an Industrial Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship
Working/ Employment Conditions Working Conditions
Requirement to drive a Regional vehicle.
Flexibility in working hours will be required.
Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
The ability to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including lifting, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, working from scaffolding and heights
Employment Conditions
Acurrent (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment.
Acopy of a valid Ontario G-class driver’s license and a driver’s abstract, by their first day of employment.
