ABOUT THE POSITION
Nahanni Construction Ltd. is accepting resumes for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. The incumbent will be working under the direction of VP - Operations. It is intended at this time that the position will be a remote position. The successful candidate will work a standard business week in at their home office with regular travel to our Main Office in Yellowknife, NT, as well as intermittent travel to Client Offices (cross-Country) and Project Sites (remote-Northern).
SCOPE
- Full responsibility for the recruitment process, including proactive sourcing of candidates, screening, selection, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new safety advisors.
- Coordinate the implementation and management of COR, along with other internal and external resources.
- Review and create risk assessments (as necessary), safe work practices and safe job procedures with the involvement of relevant employees.
- Ensure regular inspections are completed and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and chair JHSC meetings quarterly.
- Plan and participate in senior management meetings and, plan and participate in senior management meetings and companywide health and safety meetings annually and create presentations with all relevant information.
- Carry out administrative work related to Claims management with JHA.
- Design and run training and orientation programs.
- Develop and propose improvements to policies, programs, and procedures to improve all aspects of human resources and safety.
- Resolve minor employee issues and conflict resolution.
- Advise employees and managers on the interpretation of executive-level professionals.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- COR Internal Auditor qualification is desirable but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and computer skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities in an setting of rapid change.
- Use of Microsoft Office and/or G-Suite products at an advanced level.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable provincial, territorial, and federal health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Professional designation such as CRSP, NCSO, CHSC, or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5–10 years of progressive HSE experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities in construction, mining, industrial, or resource-based environments.
