Location: Toronto, ON – In-Home

Pay: From $30/hour

Position Overview

Goode Learning is seeking an experienced and engaging Secondary Teacher-Tutor to provide in-person, one-to-one tutoring in students' homes in Toronto.

The successful candidate will initially support three high-school students, with a primary focus on executive functioning and academic support. Two of the students are also seeking support in secondary mathematics, making a strong background in math an asset for this position.

There is potential to take on additional Goode Learning clients based on the teacher-tutor's availability, qualifications, and areas of expertise.

This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys working individually with adolescents and recognizes that academic success involves more than understanding course content. Our goal is to help students strengthen both their academic skills and the strategies they need to become organized, confident, and increasingly independent learners.

Areas of Support The successful candidate should be comfortable supporting students with:

- Executive functioning skills
- Organization and planning
- Time management and prioritization
- Task initiation and follow-through
- Assignment and project management
- Study skills and test preparation
- Note-taking and learning strategies
- Secondary mathematics
- Homework and curriculum support
- Independent application of academic concepts
- Goal setting and progress monitoring
- Confidence and self-advocacy

Key Responsibilities As a Teacher-Tutor at Goode Learning, you will:

- Deliver individualized, one-to-one instruction in students' homes throughout Toronto
- Develop personalized sessions based on each student's current coursework, learning profile, and individual goals




- Explicitly teach executive functioning strategies, including organization, planning, prioritization, task initiation, time management, and study skills
- Help students break larger assignments, projects, and assessments into manageable steps
- Support students in developing effective systems for managing schoolwork, deadlines, calendars, and academic responsibilities
- Provide secondary mathematics support where required
- Reinforce Ontario curriculum concepts and help students apply their learning independently
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning profiles
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant updates with the Goode Learning team
- Build positive, professional relationships with students and families
- Foster confidence, independence, self-advocacy, and effective learning habits

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess:

- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- Qualifications and/or experience teaching at the Intermediate/Senior level
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario secondary curriculum
- Experience working with high-school students
- Solid understanding of executive functioning and effective learning strategies
- Confidence supporting secondary mathematics
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with adolescents and families
- Flexibility, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to students' homes within Toronto

Preferred Qualifications

- Intermediate/Senior Mathematics qualifications
- Special Education Part 1 or Specialist
- Experience supporting students with ADHD, learning disabilities, or executive functioning challenges
- Experience explicitly teaching study skills, organization, and learning strategies
- Previous secondary classroom or one-to-one tutoring experience
