Davidson Environmental is looking for an experienced Industrial Mechanic to repair, rebuild and modify the equipment used throughout our operation.

This is a skilled mechanical position. It is not building maintenance, property maintenance, custodial work or general labour.

We need someone who is comfortable getting dirty, taking equipment apart, determining why it failed and repairing it properly. The equipment is varied, so we're looking for someone with broad mechanical knowledge rather than experience working on one particular type of production machinery.

What You'll Work On The position involves hands-on repair and troubleshooting of equipment including:

- Industrial gearboxes, bearings, shafts, seals and drive components
- Hydraulic cylinders, pumps, hoses and hydraulic systems
- Electric pallet jacks and material-handling equipment
- Forklifts
- Electric motors and related components
- Small engines and gas-powered equipment
- Industrial pressure washers
- Pumps and fluid-handling equipment
- General industrial machinery and processing equipment
- Facility equipment requiring mechanical repair or fabrication

You'll also perform welding and fabrication when equipment needs to be repaired, reinforced or modified.

What You'll Be Doing

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical problems
- Tear down and rebuild gearboxes and mechanical assemblies
- Rebuild hydraulic cylinders and repair hydraulic equipment
- Diagnose and repair electric pallet jacks and forklifts
- Troubleshoot batteries, chargers, electric motors, switches, wiring and controls on mobile equipment
- Diagnose and repair small engines and gas-powered equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial pressure washers
- Replace bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, motors and other failed components
- Weld, cut and fabricate steel components, brackets, guards and equipment repairs




- Modify existing equipment to correct problems or improve reliability
- Install motors, pumps and other mechanical equipment
- Complete general mechanical and facility repairs as required
- Perform preventive servicing, lubrication and inspections
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting and general electrical work where qualified and permitted
- Determine when equipment can be repaired in-house and when specialized outside service is required
- Follow proper lockout/tagout and safe-work procedures

What We're Looking For A trade licence is not required. Your experience and demonstrated mechanical ability matter more to us than the title of your previous position. You should have several years of hands-on experience repairing mechanical equipment and be comfortable working independently.

Your background could be in industrial equipment, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, material-handling equipment, manufacturing, recycling or another hands-on mechanical setting. You don't need to have worked on every type of equipment we own. We do expect you to understand mechanical systems well enough to approach unfamiliar equipment, troubleshoot the problem and determine how to repair it.

This is not a building or property maintenance position.
