Millwright – Plastic Injection Molding Maintenance
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Millwright to join our maintenance team in a plastic injection molding manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will have robust hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting plastic injection molding machines, material handling systems, conveyors, hydraulic and mechanical equipment, motors, gearboxes, and auxiliary production equipment.
This role is critical to ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our production equipment while minimizing downtime and supporting continuous manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plastic injection molding machines and related production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues affecting injection molding equipment.
- Diagnose and repair conveyor systems, material handling equipment, motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, shafts, and other mechanical components.
- Perform belt tracking, alignment, tensioning, and conveyor repairs.
- Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and fittings.
- Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, regulators, and air lines.
- Replace, repair, and rebuild motors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, chains, sprockets, and drive components.
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of plastic injection molding machines, molds, mold-changing systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform routine inspections to identify potential mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with machine installations, equipment relocation, setup, and production line modifications.
- Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, repairs, inspections, parts used, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Work closely with production and other maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies.
- Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable workplace regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with plastic injection molding machines is required.
- Experience in a plastic injection molding or plastics manufacturing facility is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing injection molding machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Strong experience with conveyors,
belt tracking, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and drive systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose equipment failures quickly.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and low-voltage control systems is an asset.
- Experience with CMMS maintenance software is an asset.
- Millwright/Industrial Mechanic certification or equivalent trade experience is preferred.
- Must be physically capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and working in confined spaces when required.
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently as well as part of a maintenance team.
Preferred Experience Candidates with 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in plastic injection molding will be strongly considered. Experience with hydraulic injection molding machines, mold handling, material dryers, granulators, chillers, conveyors, and other plastics-processing auxiliary equipment is a strong asset.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
