Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree or a suitable combination of post-secondary education, professional certification and work experience in the relevant field.
- Experience in adult learning and teaching, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly organized.
- Commitment to life-long learning and a learner-centered approach to teaching.
- The ability to engage students in their learning setting and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Experience instructing at a post-secondary level, using teaching & learning technology (e.g. Desire2Learn), and demonstrated leadership skills are assets.

Key Responsibilities

Course/lesson preparation (new, revised, or repeated); in-class or online teaching; evaluation (marking, grading of online forums, and other forms of student assessment); supporting student learning and related administrative duties. Specific responsibilities may vary from course to course.

Additional information:

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitating course delivery and engagement through UMLearn online Learning Management System, UM Zoom, MS Teams, and in-person sessions. Fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Providing ongoing feedback to students on their learning. Grading and returning assignments according to the course schedule. Preparing supplementary course materials as needed. Attending regular meetings with Extended Education EDIA Specialist. Adhering to U of M policies and procedures, as well as Extended Education Regulations, including academic integrity.



Access to a personal computer as well as a camera and headset are requirements for this position. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a related degree or possess a suitable combination of education and work experience in areas connected to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA). Prior experience in proficient faciliation of sensitive and difficult topics to learners with a wide range of identities, knowledge, and lived experiences is essential to foster student success. Applicants should have experience in adult learning and teaching, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be highly organized. Applicants must be committed to life-long learning and embrace a supportive, learner-centered approach to teaching. The ability to engage students across learning environments, and a personal commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are an integral part of the position. Successful completion of the course, EDIA 0100: Foundations, experience instructing in post-secondary educational settings, facility with teaching and learning technology (e.g., D2L, UMLearn, Zoom, Teams), and experience teaching in multiple modalities, including blended online and in-person delivery, are assets.
