[email protected] The Department of Business Administration invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Business Administration at the rank of Instructor 1, commencing January 1, 2027, or on a mutually agreed upon date.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Initial appointments shall normally be at the rank of Instructor 1, and qualifications should be appropriate to the particular position and normally require a Master's degree or its equivalent (UMFA Collective Agreement Section 34.4.2).
The Department seeks a scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development. We are looking for a colleague who will help design, develop and deliver outstanding educational experiences in our department.
Duties encompass teaching primarily at the undergraduate but also in professional graduate programs, and professional service for the School, University, and community.
Responsibilities may include the following:
- live lecture, on-line and distance delivery formats
- curriculum development and refinement, including introducing new programs and courses, and assessing and updating the content and pedagogy of existing offerings
- coordinating multi-section courses in collaboration with departmental colleagues
- service and participation in collegial governance through membership and leadership on School and University committees
- maintaining professional currency and relevance through service and leadership to the profession and broader community
- contributing to coaching, advising, and other service activities contributing to students’ professional development
- developing and sharing new teaching approaches and best practices within the department and School and, where relevant, through teaching-oriented scholarship.
The Department of Business Administration covers courses in several areas such as Entrepreneurship, General Management, Human Resource Management, Leadership and Organizational Behaviour, and Strategic and Global Management. The successful candidate is expected to have the interest and ability to teach courses in two or more of these specialized areas. Please state in your cover letter what you bring to this position, including relevant experience and expertise. Candidates must have completed a master's degree in management, business administration, or a closely related field. Ideally they have developed their capability to integrate theory and practice of management or business administration and provide evidence of robust knowledge and effective course development and delivery, communication skills, and student development in the new evolving business and societal setting in Canada.
The candidates will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in an ethical and collegial manner in a collaborative atmosphere.
Candidates will be asked to serve on both School and University committees, and in relevant collaborations across the school and more broadly. Service duties will be explicitly recognized and considered in assigning teaching duties and in the promotion process.
The Asper School is the principal business school in the Province of Manitoba and is accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) among the top 5% of business schools internationally. The school offers BComm (Hons), MBA, MFin, MSCM, MSc, and PhD degrees. We are a research-intensive institution that is proud of our teaching.
We are comprised of approximately 67 full-time faculty members (representing over 13 countries) publishing in leading academic journals. The Department currently has 22 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members, two instructors, seven full-time sessional instructors, and 17 part-time sessional instructors.
