ORGANIZATION SUMMARY The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is a not-for-profit organization whose main focus is the exploration and development of opportunities to promote and celebrate Canadian artists and music. CARAS serves as an umbrella organization to the JUNO Awards – Canada’s Music Awards, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and MusiCounts – Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS. The JUNO Awards is Canada’s premier music award show that recognizes and celebrates excellence of achievement in recorded music.

OVERALL POSITION The Intern, Academy Operations will support the Academy Operations team throughout key stages of the 2027 JUNO Awards submissions, screening and voting cycle. Working alongside the Coordinator and Senior Coordinators, this role will assist with submission verification, data management and reporting, Music Advisory Committee administration, voting preparation and customer service.

This role provides hands-on experience working with high-volume, detail-driven processes where accuracy, organization and strong communication are essential. The Intern will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of JUNO Awards eligibility, Academy operations and the systems and processes that support the integrity and success of the awards.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Submissions & Data Management

- Develop an understanding of JUNO Awards eligibility requirements and apply established criteria during the submission verification process
- Review JUNO Award submissions for accuracy and eligibility and identify information requiring additional review or clarification
- Support outreach to artists, labels and managers to resolve submission questions or required updates
- Assist with maintaining,



reviewing and updating Academy Operations data to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness
- Support the preparation and maintenance of reports used to track submissions, eligibility and other Academy Operations activities

Nominating & Voting Support

- Support the administration of Music Advisory Committees, including meeting preparation, communications and note-taking
- Assist with preparing data and reports used by Music Advisory Committees during the screening process
- Assist with the judge application and selection process, including outreach and administrative support
- Support testing of the JUNO Awards voting platform prior to the opening of voting
- Assist with preparing and maintaining documents and communications for CARAS Academy Delegates and Judges
- Update voting reports throughout the voting period and assist with preparing final voting statistics and reporting

Customer Service & Administration

- Provide professional customer service by phone and email to artists, labels and managers throughout the JUNO Awards submission process
- Respond to inquiries from CARAS Academy Delegates and provide administrative support related to Academy participation and renewals
- Provide customer service to Judges and CARAS Academy Delegates throughout the voting process, assisting with questions related to voting procedures and access
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inquiries and operational activities
- Support the Academy Operations team with additional administrative and cross-functional projects as required

JUNO Week Ticketing

- Support ticketing on-sales for JUNO Week public and industry events
- Assist with tracking ticket sales and maintaining accurate ticketing data and records
- Support the preparation and updating of ticket sales reports
- Provide administrative support for additional JUNO Week ticketing activities as required

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS





- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Solid organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage tasks within established deadlines
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, data and administrative systems
- Strong written communication skills and professional phone etiquette
- Ability to take ownership of assigned work and follow tasks through to completion
- Curious and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when needed
- Ability to receive feedback and apply learnings to future work
- Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential information
- Experience with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Excel is an asset
- Previous experience in operations, administration or customer service is an asset
- Previous experience in the music industry, either professionally or through volunteer experience, is an asset but not required
- Strong interest in learning about the Canadian music industry and the JUNO Awards

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Internship term is September 14, 2026 – December 18, 2026
- Operational hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET
- The Academy Operations team works in-office Monday through Thursday, with virtual work-from-home Fridays
- This position pays $17.95/hour
- Occasional overtime may be required, with advance notice provided
- Interns must be enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution and must be a domestic student (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Due to the nature of the JUNO Awards cycle, workload and priorities may fluctuate throughout the internship term
