The Opportunity

As an Investment Analyst, you will support the oversight of external investment managers and the analysis of portfolio performance, risk, and investment strategies.

This position is well suited to an analytical and curious professional seeking to build broad experience in institutional and pension investing.

Reporting to the Director, Public Investments, you will work with investment managers, consultants, custodians, and other service providers.

You will be responsible for:

- Monitoring external investment managers using quantitative and qualitative analysis, including performance, risk, portfolio positioning, organizational developments, and adherence to mandate expectations.
- Participating in manager meetings and prepare analysis, questions, meeting notes, and recommended follow-up actions.
- Supporting investment manager searches, due diligence,



mandate reviews, and implementation activities.
- Analyzing investment performance at the total portfolio, asset class, strategy, and manager levels.
- Investigating the drivers of investment results and clearly explain their significance.
- Researching capital markets, investment strategies, pension investment practices, and emerging industry developments.
- Preparing reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management, investment committees, and boards.
- Monitoring compliance with investment policies, manager guidelines, and governance requirements.
- Working with external partners to identify and resolve investment data and reporting issues.
- Developing and improving analytical tools, dashboards, monitoring processes, and investment reporting.
- Contributing to special projects and broader investment initiatives based on organizational priorities.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a combination of:
- Enrollment and/or completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Preference will be given to candidates who have enrolled in the CFA program and have successfully completed Level 1 or higher of the program; and




- A combination of relevant education and experience in the investment or pension industry is beneficial. Relevant education could include a combination of Bachelor/Master’s degrees in administration, commerce, or economics, enrollment and/or completion of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst program (CAIA), or other investment industry-specific courses and designations.
