Job Profile:

Reporting to the CTO, the IT Specialist will, in collaboration with the IT team, assist in facilitating the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including providing hardware and software assistance as well as general technical support to users, and service to all internal staff as well as members and students across the province as directed.

Job Responsibilities / Duties:

1. Provide Level 2/3 technical support and assistance to staff, students and members as directed, including:

- troubleshooting complex hardware, operating system, software and infrastructure problems and escalating issues to the CTO as necessary;
- researching and answering IT related questions and investigating recurring incidents, performing root-cause analysis and implementing appropriate resolutions;
- aiding users in the adoption of technology and providing one-on-one user support and problem resolution to staff, students and members via telephone, email and other modes of communications;
- providing professional and timely technical support to staff, including executive leadership and VIP users;
- maintaining, configuring and deploying end-user devices for staff as directed including assisting with password resets and general software questions, as well as providing technical support to staff, members and students in the use of various platforms;
- supporting and administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, user accounts, permissions and identity/access management;
- managing and supporting endpoint technologies, including Microsoft Intune, MDM, software deployment, workstation imaging, configuration, and patching;
- troubleshooting and resolving local and remote network connectivity, including switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, VLANs, VPNs and related network services and escalating major network issues to the CTO as necessary;
- Supporting Windows Server and virtualization environments, including VMware and/or Hyper-V, and perform VM provisioning, cloning, snapshots, and general lifecycle management;
- Supporting enterprise storage, backup, and recovery technologies;
- Supporting and troubleshooting VoIP and IP-based phone systems;
- Using PowerShell and other tools for administration, troubleshooting, and automation where appropriate;
- Managing incidents and service requests according to established priorities and SLAs, maintaining accurate technical documentation, and accurately logging work orders and IT requests and corresponding resolutions;
- Assisting with cybersecurity, endpoint security, access controls, device compliance, patching,



and protection of organizational systems and data;

1. Monitor and troubleshoot office IT equipment, including:

- Supporting the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and repair of workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and other IT equipment;
- regularly checking the functionality of all office printers and resolving issues as identified;
- providing support for facility security surrounding access control and cameras;
- providing support for various devices including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, etc.;
- reporting to the CTO any necessary equipment repairs;
- scheduling regular equipment maintenance and facilitating third-party maintenance visits onsite and working with vendors and service providers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues;
- monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting where necessary any issues with printers, fax machines, telephones and other IT equipment;

1. Assist the CTO in the tracking of all IT equipment, including:

- ensuring all equipment is properly ticketed/coded;
- ensuring all equipment is properly logged prior to deployment;
- maintaining a working inventory list of all deployed equipment to each staff member;
- assisting the end-of-life processes for any applicable IT equipment including logging all equipment being written off and reporting said log to the accounting department;
- maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all equipment and user licenses and assisting in the ordering of additional inventory as directed.

1. Other IT job duties and special projects as assigned by the CTO, including:

- providing IT support for multiple office locations across the province;
- contributing to the testing and evaluation of recent technologies as needed;
- acting as front-line support for all IT inquiries and troubleshooting from staff, students and members;
- ensuring the IT department including offices and storage rooms are kept properly organized and that inventory is accessible.

Job Requirements:

- A college diploma or university degree in a field related to IT;
- Minimum 5 years providing progressive IT support and service, systems administration, and/or infrastructure experience;
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and Microsoft Intune;




- Experience with Windows Server, Group Policy, endpoint management, and corporate mobile device management;
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including switches, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs;
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and/or Hyper-V;
- Familiarity with enterprise storage technologies, including NFS, iSCSI, datastores, volumes, LUNs, and replication;
- Experience supporting VoIP phone systems;
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation is an asset;
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to independently resolve complex technical issues;
- Ability to prioritize multiple incidents and service requests and appropriately escalate critical issues;
- Strong understanding of IT security, access management, endpoint security, and security compliance;
- sound judgement to escalate issues to the CTO where needed;
- excellent written, oral and telephone communication skills with a strong skillset in customer service and documentation;
- able to communicate in a user-friendly language;
- exceptional multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills;
- excellent problem solving and technical ability;
- strong attention to detail;
- a team player who is able to work effectively under pressure both collaboratively and independently;
- a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism at all times;
- able to understand and follow instructions as given;
- strong organization skills;
- willing and able to travel between offices to provide onsite IT support as required;
- must have a valid license and regular access to a vehicle.

Work Conditions:

- this is an in-person role;
- manual dexterity required to use computers and peripherals;
- ability to physically inspect equipment;
- able to lift at least 50lbs;
- some travel between various work locations for in-person technical support as needed.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
