Position Summary

Avenge is looking for a Journeyman Welder interested in working toward dual certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team on a permanent, full time basis. Daily work will move between welding assignments and mechanical apprenticeship tasks, with the JM Welding rate paid across all task assignments. Experience working in a busy mechanic shop is required, and Hydro Vac and Combo unit knowledge is an asset.

This is an on-site position, based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Applicants must currently reside in the Grande Prairie area.

No remote or hybrid arrangements are available.

Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or hold Permanent Resident status.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Shop Foreman and Director of Maintenance, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient welding, repair, and fabrication of equipment for various applications, alongside progressing toward a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship. Service truck experience is an asset, with strong opportunity for advancement.

Paid the JM Welding rate for all task assignments.

What You'll Do

- Perform welding fabrication and repair on trucks and equipment
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by following all policies and processes and acting safely at all times
- Ensure all equipment is properly secured prior to work or repairs (for example, using chock blocks and jack stands)




- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on company vehicles and equipment; Hydrovac and Combo unit knowledge and experience are an asset
- Complete and submit all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Keep the shop area clean, tidy, and free of hazards at all times
- Must be open to varied work assignments that will include a variety of tasks in a busy mechanic shop.

What You Bring

- Journeyman Welding certification (required)
- Previous experience working in a mechanic shop (required)
- Class 1, 3, or 5 driver's license with a clean 5 year driver's abstract (required)
- Desire to become a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic

The candidate may be required to work weekends, evenings, overtime and on call as needed. Starting wage is dependent on a combination of schooling and experience which can be discussed during interview.
