Company Description MIDLITE Powerline Construction specializes in comprehensive powerline, substation, and fiber optic construction and maintenance across voltage ranges from 25kV to 260kV. The company has a strong track record of successfully delivering projects throughout Western Canada.

In recent years, MIDLITE has focused on serving heavy industry in Alberta, particularly Oilsands and SAGD operators. While expanding to meet the needs of large industrial clients, MIDLITE continues to execute large-scale transmission and distribution projects for regional utility and telecommunications companies. Team members join a company experienced in complex, high-demand environments with a commitment to safety, reliability, and quality work.

Role Description This is a full time role in locations across Western Canada and NWT for Journeyman Powerline Technicians and 3rd/4th year Apprentices. Daily responsibilities include constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground powerlines, as well as assisting with substation and fiber optic installations and upgrades.

Team members perform line inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective work to ensure secure, reliable power delivery for industrial and utility clients. The role involves operating and working around heavy equipment, climbing and working at heights, and following established safety procedures, regulations, and company standards. Journeypersons will lead and mentor apprentices, while apprentices support experienced technicians,



participate in training, and build skills toward trade certification.

Qualifications

- Journeyperson Powerline Technician trade certification or status, or current registration as a 3rd/4th year Powerline Technician Apprentice.
- Proficiency in powerline construction and maintenance tasks, including overhead and underground line work, pole and structure installation, and basic substation activities.
- Previous experience in 25-72KV live line work is an asset.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical distribution and transmission systems, safe work practices, and relevant codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely at heights, in varying weather conditions, and around heavy equipment, with a solid commitment to safety culture.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to follow instructions, complete documentation, and collaborate with diverse crews.
- Valid class 1 or 3 driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to worksites and work extended or flexible hours as project demands require.
- Physically able to perform demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in remote or rugged environments.
- Previous experience in industrial, utility, or telecommunications powerline projects in Western Canada is an asset.
- Completion of relevant safety training (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection) is considered beneficial.
