Journeyman/Woman Welder or WPO (Wire Process Operator) required for busy Racking Manufacturer.
We are looking for a skilled Welders to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabrication, possess strong mechanical knowledge, and be able to read blueprints. If you are detail-oriented, have excellent problem-solving skills, and can work independently or as part of a team, we would love to hear from you. Positions will be dayshift, but employees will be required to work nightshift periodically. (Durations to be determined according to workload).
Dayshift: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday (Optional overtime offered Friday's 6:30 am - 3:00 pm)
Position reports to Production Coordinator/Supervisor
Position is responsible for:
- laying out, fitting and fabricating various racking components and accessories using knowledge of welding techniques.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Journeyman/Woman Welder or WPO (Alberta or Interprovincial)
- CWB weld positions required F, FH, V, VD (nice to have MetalCore) - Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to operate various tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols
- Knowledge of production inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, and techniques for maximizing the manufacturing of goods.
- Good manual dexterity. Ability to quickly make coordinated movements during the welding processes
- Ability to repetitively lift or carry material or objects up to 22kg (50 lbs)
Valuable vision, well coordinated, and can stand for long periods of time and work in awkward positions.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with operating a forklift and rigging equipment - accurate communication with other departments when components are ready for further processing.
- Ability to operate a crane is a plus
Job duties and Responsibilities - Lays out, positions and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications
- Analyze drawing and specification to plan layout, assembly and welding operations.
- determines required equipment and welding method. Applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques.
- develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
- ignite torches adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- tack weld or weld various components and assemblies using eletric, gas arc, or other welding equipment.
- heat forms, and dresses metal parts using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
- removes rough spots from work piece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
- Work from a schedule or production list furnishes by the production coordinator. Follows priorities set by supervisors and sequences tasks within that time frame.
- Helps maintain a neat, clean, organized workplace. Removes scrap and other debris, sweeps and cleans work areas, aisles, storage areas daily.
- Learns and applies all company policies, safety rules and regulations.
