Job Title: Mechanical Designer Join a collaborative and innovative buildings engineering team delivering projects across the government, institutional, industrial, and commercial sectors.

As a Mechanical Designer, you will work closely with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams to develop mechanical building systems, contribute to detailed design solutions, and support projects from concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex projects, leverage advanced design technologies, and help drive the continuous evolution of engineering and BIM processes.

Responsibilities

- Develop and prepare mechanical building system designs, including HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
- Produce detailed construction drawings, models, and technical documentation using industry-standard software.
- Create and maintain 3D BIM models, layouts, and coordinated design packages.
- Assist with engineering calculations and design analysis to support project requirements.
- Develop 2D plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and design professionals to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination and clash detection activities.
- Review design drawings and project documentation for completeness, quality, and consistency.
- Support the development of project standards, workflows, and documentation practices.
- Provide technical input during design development and project execution phases.
- Coordinate deliverables with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a BIM/CAD lead on select projects, providing guidance and oversight to project team members.
- Participate in site visits, field reviews, and construction support activities as required.

Essential Skills

- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design and Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of mechanical design experience.
- Strong experience designing and drafting mechanical building systems, including HVAC and plumbing.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and other BIM/MEP design software.
- Experience developing construction documents and detailed engineering drawings for commercial, institutional, industrial, or mixed-use projects.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, plumbing codes, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA standards.
- Experience with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience conducting field reviews and construction site inspections.
- Familiarity with Revizto, SketchUp, and other design coordination tools.




- LEED accreditation or experience supporting sustainable building projects.
- Advanced BIM modeling and coordination experience.
- Previous experience acting as a BIM Lead or CAD Lead on complex building projects.
- Understanding of HVAC fundamentals: Heating, Cooling, Ventilation, Air movement, Ductwork concepts.
- Ability to perform or support load calculations, equipment sizing, and HVAC system layouts.
- Wastewater/Industrial/Institutional building experience.

Work Workplace This role offers a hybrid work environment with 2 days in the office preferred. Offices are located in Niagara and Kitchener, providing flexibility for site visits and field reviews. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, with direct mentorship from senior engineers and project leaders. Employees receive exposure to a broad range of projects, ensuring the development of well-rounded technical professionals. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Markham, ON.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
